If you are visiting this page it is because you may have some concerns about your child's behavior, academic performance, or their emotional well being. Adolescence comes with many ups and down. There are times when the challenges our teens and young adults face don't resolve on their own or with time and they may start to interfere with daily life. It may be hard for your child or teenager to make friends, control impulses, or perhaps they are often angry, sad or worried. Perhaps they suffer from low self-esteem or they have experienced a loss or traumatic event. This is when I can help.
When I work with teenagers and young adults, they learn skills and strategies that help them cope and feel better. I do this through talk therapy in a safe, nurturing environment.
In my practice, I also offer family therapy. This type of therapy often involves the child and some or all of the family members. The goal is to enhance the individual work done in therapy. Family therapy will help you better understand and help your teenager. In addition, family therapy can help family members get along better, feel closer and communicate in a productive way.
I use several psychotherapy techniques in individual and family therapy. All of these are catered to each client and are evidenced based. This means that I use clear goals, measures and guidelines to promote change and bring measurable results.
As an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse, I use my knowledge of human growth and development, medication, and healthful habits in order to enhance my work as a psychotherapist.
