If you are visiting this page it is because you may have some concerns about your child's behavior, academic performance, social skills or his/her emotional well being. Sometimes problems don't resolve on their own or with time and they may start to interfere with your child's daily life. It may be hard for your child or teenager to make friends, control his/her impulses, or perhaps they are often angry, sad or worried. Perhaps they suffer from low self-esteem or they have experienced a loss or traumatic event. This is when I can help.
When I work with children and teenagers, they learn skills and strategies that help them cope with their problems and feel better. I do this through talk therapy or play therapy in a safe, nurturing environment. All my work is catered to the needs and strengths of each individual child or teen.
In my practice I also offer family therapy. This type of therapy often involves the child and some or all of the family members. The goal is to enhance the individual work done by your child in therapy. Family therapy will help you better understand and help your child or teenager. In addition, family therapy can help family members get along better, feel closer and communicate.
I use several psychotherapy techniques in individual and family therapy. All of these are catered to each client and are evidenced based. This means that I use clear goals, measures and guidelines to promote change and bring measurable results.
As an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse I use my knowledge of human growth and development, medication, and healthful habits in order to enhance my work as a psychotherapist.
